Shooting With Intention — LPSNZ

Early morning reflections across Waiwhakaata (Lake Hayes), Queenstown, New Zealand

So much of what we do here at AuthenticAs is subjective, especially when crafting experiences and documenting these moments and memories with photographs. We feel in our hearts and minds we are on the right path with our little business. As the years grow longer we grow too.

Without a doubt our reviews from our manuhiri tell us how we're really performing - especially when you look at the length and general trend of those. We're so stoked to have always received 5-star reviews, and more often than not they run to a few paragraphs.

Photography itself is a strange art, especially with the emergence of social media. Comments and shares don't always validate the quality of your craft - they can sometimes be more reflective of your marketing and PR skills.

A year ago we decided to both go along to the Queenstown Photography Club. The idea was to meet fellow photographers we wouldn't usually encounter in day-to-day life, work towards briefs outside our usual subjects - there's a monthly judged set subject and an open category with various themes - and hopefully share some of our skills and experiences with our local community rather than competing with photographers in a business sense.

Camera clubs are dotted around Aotearoa and most belong to the Photographic Society of New Zealand, a national organisation that offers an accreditation scheme recognising a photographer's ability.

We're really proud to let you know that Simon submitted a portfolio of 10 images across the range of subjects he loves to shoot, and has been awarded Licentiate honours. He can now add the letters LPSNZ at the end of our work emails.

His next step is putting together a portfolio for Associate - more involved, more curated. A very good excuse to get out and shoot with even greater intention.

Here’s the collection he entered. If you are keen on the idea of joining a local camera club take a look at the Photographic Society of NZ website www.photography.org.nz and give it a try.

AuthenticAs photograph events in the best way possible - The Prospector was possibly the most grueling MTB in Aotearoa

The Prospector was one of the toughest MTB races that Aotearoa has ever seen. We love photographing events, we push ourselves as hard as the athletes.
