Ngā Kurakura o Hinenuitepõ as seen from the Peak

NZ$350.00

Many would say Coronet Peak isn’t the best place to view Ngā Kurakura o Hinenuitepõ (the Aurora Australis) - we say different. The rewards very much dependant upon how much effort you put in.

There are many places on the side of the road which offer some great viewing during a reasonable solar storm, but you will be illuminated with lights from cars fairly often. A short walk from the road gets you to some quieter and darker viewing platforms.

Take a mind blowing night time eBike ride to the top and you can be rewarded with a sight which blows your mind. The extra height of being at the Peak, allows the maunga (mountains) of the Wakatipu Basin to form a beautiful foreground rather than form a blockade.

A long way away from any other people, high above the encroaching inversion layer you’re rewarded with the most incredible view to celestial South. Watching these colours dance around above this magical basin is quite simply mind blowing and life changing.
